February
February 28 Fall 2024 class schedule and student registration appointments available.
March
March 11 The SDSU Aztec Scholarships application opens. Log in to the Aztec Scholarships portal and apply.
April
Mid-April Fall 2024 admitted students who submitted a 2024-25 FAFSA or Dream Act Application and have no pending required documents can view their 2024-25 financial aid eligibility on my.SDSU.
April 15 Fall 2024 registration begins. Check your my.SDSU Financial Account tile for your payment deadline.
April 15 Applications available for fall 2024 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree. Undergraduates can learn more on the Application for Undergraduate Graduation web page and graduate students can learn more on the Graduation Info web page.
May
Late-May Continuing students who have been awarded for the 2023-24 aid year, and have signed up for summer courses, can view their summer 2024 financial aid eligibility in my.SDSU.
June
June Continuing students who submitted a 2024-25 FAFSA or Dream Act Application, and have no required documents pending, can view their fall 2024-spring 2025 financial aid eligibility in my.SDSU.
June 21 Thesis submission (strict 3:45 p.m. deadline): Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for graduation in summer 2024.
July
July New Student Orientation for first-year students and parents/families (registration required).
August
August New Student Orientation for transfer students and parents/families (registration required).
August 5 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the College of Graduate Studies by department or college.
August 9 Thesis publication (strict 3:45 p.m. deadline): Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation who miss the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
August 14 Strict 3:45 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to reenroll in 799B the following term.
August 15 All-University Convocation.
August 16 New Graduate Student Orientation.
August 19 Maximum undergraduate registration units for fall 2024 increase from 18 units to 21 units. Students requesting to enroll in more than 21 units must receive approval from their academic advisor.
August 19 First day of fall semester.
August 22-31 Welcome Week.
August 24 New Student and Family Convocation.
August 25 Last day to officially withdraw for fall semester and receive a full refund. All refunds for withdrawal are subject to an administrative fee.
August 26 First Day of Classes.
August 26 A $50 late registration fee will be accessed for late enrollment.
September
September 2 Last day of waitlist auto-enrollment. After this date, enrollment in open seats is not automatic or guaranteed.
September 2 Last day for payment of fees for registration (3:30 p.m. deadline).
September 2 Holiday—Labor Day. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
September 3-9 On the sixth instructional day through the schedule adjustment deadline, enrollment in open seats is not automatic or guaranteed. Enrollment during this period is by permission number only.
September 5 Administrative drop deadline. Students may be administratively dropped for non-attendance or lack of required course prerequisites.
September 9 Schedule Adjustment Deadline. Last day to add, drop, or change grading basis (11:59 p.m. deadline).
September 9 Last day to officially withdraw from the university without penalty fee for the fall 2024 semester. Withdrawal requests after September 1 are accepted by petition only.
September 9 Last day to apply for fall 2024 graduation with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree. Undergraduates can learn more on the Application for Undergraduate Graduation web page and graduate students can learn more on the Graduation Info web page.
September 9 Last day to file petition for concurrent graduate credit for the fall 2024 semester.
September 9 Last day to opt-out of Immediate Access or Equitable Access for online course materials (if applicable).
September 23 Census.
September 23 Last day to submit a Petition for Late Schedule Adjustment requesting a fall 2024 course withdrawal without a "W" on the transcript. Any approved requests received after this date will result in a "W" on the transcript.
October
October 1 Applications for admission or readmission to San Diego State University for the semester are accepted. Undergraduate applications are NOT accepted after November 30 (postmarked). Graduate applicants should consult Graduate Admissions for closing dates.
October 1 The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for the 2025-26 academic year.
October 1 The California Dream Act is available for the 2025-26 academic year.
October 9 Indigenous Peoples' Day
October 25 Thesis submission (strict 3:45 p.m. deadline): Final day for submitting thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review to have the best likelihood for Fall 2024 graduation.
October 31 Last day to officially withdraw from all classes for fall 2024 and receive a prorated refund (withdrawal after September 1 requires special approval and a penalty fee is assessed).
November
November 5 General Election.
November 11 Holiday—Veterans Day. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
November 27 No classes will be held, but campus will remain open.
November 28–29 Holiday—Thanksgiving recess. Faculty/Staff holiday. Campus closed.
December
December 8 Last day for reporting results on comprehensive examinations to the Division of Graduate Studies by department or college.
December 11 Last day to submit a fall 2024 Petition for Late Schedule Adjustment.
December 11 Last day of classes before final examinations.
December 12–18 Final examinations.
December 13 Thesis publication (strict 3:45 p.m. deadline): Thesis review process, including publishing, must be completed on this date at Montezuma Publishing. Applicants for graduation missing the final deadline will be automatically evaluated for graduation in future terms.
December 20 Strict 12 p.m. deadline: Final day to submit thesis with processing fee to Montezuma Publishing for thesis review without having to reenroll in 799B the following term.
December 24–27 Holiday—Winter recess. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
December 31 Grades due from instructors, 11 p.m. deadline.
December 31 Last day of fall semester.
December 31 Last day for submission of incomplete and RP grade removals (excluding thesis) for December 2024 graduation with an advanced degree.
January
January 1 Holiday—New Year's Day Observed. Faculty/staff holiday. Campus closed.
